The Town of Renfrew and the Ontario Clean Water Agency are monitoring the colour of the drinking water.
Town staff say it’s still safe to drink although there are high levels of manganese in the raw and treated water from the Bonnechere River water source. A news release at 1:00pm Monday afternoon (July 25th) says while manganese does not create health concerns, it does create challenges with colour in the treated water.
myFM reached out to the Town of Renfrew Department of Development and Works who confirmed there is currently no boil water advisory in Renfrew despite conflicting media reports.
Town staff say the drinking water has been tested and meets all health related requirements and they are working to minimize the impact on the water distribution system.
