The Stanley Cup is coming to the Ottawa Valley this summer.
Shawn Allard, the Skills Development Coach for the Colorado Avalanche, grew up in Petawawa, played for the Pembroke Lumber Kings, and says he plans to bring the cup back to the area to celebrate.
After leaving the Ottawa Valley, Allard went on to play professional hockey in Europe before switching over to coaching. Allard says he met Mike Fisher at a Christian hockey camp and the two worked together during his time in Ottawa and Nashville.
Fisher helped Allard get his first coaching job in the NHL with the Nashville Predators.
In 2018, Allard signed on as Skills Development Coach for the Colorado Avalanche, who won the Stanley Cup at the end of June. Allard says when he lifted the cup he was doing it for everyone who’s helped and supported him along the way.
Allard tells myFM that while he doesn’t know the exact date, he says the Stanley Cup will be coming back to Petawawa and the Ottawa Valley.
Allard is also the founder of the creator of Perfect Skating™, which has expanded across Canada and into the United States. Allard has consulted over 10 NHL organizations and trained over 350 NHL players using the Perfect Skating Methodology.
Perfect Skating will host a number of programs in Pembroke this summer. You can learn more about the program and find out how to register online.
