Ontario’s Green Stream Program is channeling seven million dollars to Renfrew Nipissing Pembroke.
The Ontario contribution is a component of funding that also includes Federal dollars.
The funding was recently announced by Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski and will improve drinking water infrastructure.
Nine local initiatives are recipients of the money.
Deep River will use its 1.28 million for filtration improvements.
The Algonquins of Pikwakanagan receive 916 thousand for communal well upgrades.
Madawaska Valley will do improvements to the Barry’s Bay treatment plant with its 94 thousand dollar share.
Killaloe Hagarty and Richards has 54 thousand to upgrade its SCADA monitoring technology.
Pembroke gets 1.59 million for upgrades and modifications.
Laurentian Valley is getting 310 thousand dollars for watermain replacement.
Whitewater Region has 688 thousand dollars it will use to upgrade the Beachburg Water Treatment Plant.
Renfrew is getting 1.67 million to replace cast-iron water mains.
Arnprior is getting 833 thousand for reservoir improvements.
These projects are a part of a joint investment towards 144 water infrastructure projects across Ontario.
The Government of Ontario is providing more than $140.5 million in these projects, Infrastructure Canada is investing more than $190.2 million, while the individual recipients are contributing more than $108.5 million.
