There’s a new Scholarship program for Students from Algonquin Communities.
The Taggart Award for Algonquin Students is what it’s called, and the program was announced Tuesday.
Up to 12 students could receive $3,000 each through the new award in 2022-23.
Financial need is principal among factors which also include community contributions and academic performance.
The award is available to students of Algonquin heritage who live in the following communities:
Antoine, the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation, Bonnechere, Greater Golden Lake, Bancroft, Mattawa/North Bay, Ottawa, Sharbot Lake, Ardoch and Whitney and area.
Selections will be made by a panel of qualified jurists or program educators.
Indspire’s application for the 2022-23 academic year opens on May 1st.
Other application dates to bear in mind are February 1st, August 1st, and November 1st each year.
