It’s a big step in Ontario as mask mandates have officially been dropped in most settings.
You can still wear a face mask if you want, something the Acting Medical Officer of Health with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU), Doctor Robert Cushman, plans to continue doing until mid-April.
Cushman tells myFM COVID-19 is still present in our community with high levels of the virus still being tracked in wastewater along the Ottawa River.
He adds wearing a masks protects yourself and the community and says there’s concerns about the sub-variant of Omicron is starting to take hold in Ontario.
The top doctor with the RCDHU says by mid-April he expects to have a better outlook on the COVID-19 situation in Renfrew County and District.
