Some major safety concerns that Arnprior Council had with the site plan for the French Catholic School being constructed on Baskin Drive were addressed at the municipal meeting of January 10th.
One of the ideas suggested was that there be a staggered start and school day finishing time between A.J. Charboneau School and the new Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) entry.
The board advised Council that all students attending the CECCE school will be bussed to class, and submitted drawings that all pupil entrance and egress will be done on school property itself.
Given that new subdivisions are under construction or being promoted nearby, it may not always be the case that there will be no walk-in student traffic- and there’s a contingency for that.
The security deposit to be held by the Town totals 80 thousand dollars.
After several delays, the CECCE plans to open the new school this fall.
