The popular skating trail in Laurentian Valley is getting ready to open for the season.
The trail will open Saturday, January 8th, 2022 and be open daily from 10:00am to 4:00pm weather permitting.
The Township says due to the natural ice surface along a wooded trail, optimal weather conditions are required to ensure the ice properly forms.
The Laurentian Valley Skating Trail is a natural ice surface through a wooded, forested area that is 1.5 kilometers long.
The trail typically opens in January and closes in March and is open daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Night skating is only permitted during special events where the trail is lit up and roughly 1,000 skaters attend.
There’s no cost to skate, but donations are welcome and help grow and maintain the trail.
The Laurentian Valley Skating Trail is located next to the Alice & Fraser Rec Centre, by the old Timberline Snowmobile Club, at 2 Henan Road in Laurentian Valley.
