The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is reporting five local residents are currently in the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.
The detailed case summary released this afternoon (Dec. 23, 2021), shows 85 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the last 7-days, over four times as many cases the RCDHU reported compared to the previous week.
There are 80 residents across Renfrew County and District isolating at home with four people in the hospital and another hospitalized in the intensive care unit after testing positive for COVID-19.
No residents of retirement or long-term care homes have tested positive in the last week with one positive case confirmed in a healthcare worker.
In the last week, 67 of the new cases are among community members with three staff and 14 students also testing positive for the virus.
Over a third of the local cases (39 of the 85) have screened positive for a variant of concern.
There are 12 cases in Arnprior, six in Horton, eight in Laurentian Valley, five in North Algona Wilberforce, 16 in Pembroke, six in Petawawa and ten in Whitewater Region.
Renfrew County and District municipalities with under five cases include Admaston/Bromley, Bonnechere Valley, the Township of Brudenell, Lyndoch, Raglan, Greater Madawaska, Laurentian Hills, Madawaska Valley, McNab/Braeside, Pikwakanagan, Renfrew and South Algonquin.
There are currently no active cases in the Town of Deep River, the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards and the Township of Head, Clara and Maria.
