The Town of Arnprior has received its Waterfront Master Plan, containing a twenty-year strategy outlining proposed upgrades to what’s widely considered the community’s greatest asset.
Thinc Design consultant Mike Tocher talked Council through the over 250 page document- and that’s as far as it went.
Not wanting to be lynched by passing a bylaw and perceived to be putting shovels in the ground, elected representatives received the report as information only at the suggestion of Mayor Stack.
There are outstanding unresolved issues, but it’s a grand scheme with 65 recommendations covering not only Robert Simpson Park, but the two facilities on the Madawaska’s east bank as well as the Marina and McLean Avenue Beach- an addition to the 2017 terms-of-reference.
Tocher ranked residents’ survey preferences- but then repositioned the upgrades according to the likely schedule of available money in any given year.
Watching available money closely is important, according to Town Chief Administrative Officer Robin Paquette.
Hanging in the balance is a suggestion for residential development next to the Marina.
It’s likely that the next action on the file will occur next February as Council has some year-end items currently on its plate.
