Renfrew’s acting fire chief has issued a release about a residential fire on Fortington Street.
Michael Guest says at about 12:53 pm yesterday afternoon (Nov. 16), the fire department was called to a home where crews faced heavy smoke and fire in the basement of the single story duplex.
According to Guest, a heavy fuel load made conditions difficult for firefighters but were able to bring the blaze under control by 2 pm.
No one among emergency response crews were injured and the OPP has currently cordoned off the scene.
The Ontario Fire Marshal Office is also on scene to assist with the investigation.
myFM News reached out to constable Amanda Carruthers, who says police are limited to what they can reveal at this time of the investigation.
