The Town of Arnprior has approved a bylaw authorizing a mandatory vaccination policy for everyone associated with the municipality.
A staff presentation was shared with elected representatives at the municipal meeting October 25th.
Human Resources Officer Carly Freeman outlined the three key thrusts of the document.
Those dates are to disclose one’s vaccination status by November 1st, have received one’s first jab by November 15th and be fully vaccinated no later than December 31st.
The municipality will recognize medical exemptions as long as the individual complies with required protocols- but those who refuse to be vaccinated will suffer a range of consequences.
An amendment seeking to remove the option of a rapid testing alternative for the non-compliant failed.
Those employees will have to be masked and wear a visor except when eating.
Town administration has yet to received feedback from its unionized workforce, but shared a number of expert opinions on the legality of the initiative before it was approved.
