“Work Matters” has shifted its focus to the Early Childhood Education and Skilled Trades sectors of the economy in Lanark and Renfrew Counties.
Phase Two of its initiative recently launched, following an earlier excursion within Health Care, Manufacturing and Transportation sectors.
The new Pathway2PSW program, funded by Employment Ontario in cooperation with the Federal Government provides financial and job coaching support for eligible individuals.
The goal is to train 180 Personal Support Workers (PSW) and 15 Developmental Services Workers (DSW).
Work Matters will host various roundtable discussions with employers this October.
Surveys have also been created to obtain input from job seekers, workers, and employers in the ECE and Skilled Trades sectors, which can be found on the work matters website under the surveys tab.
Early next year, a Summit will follow to address the challenges that are identified from these efforts.
