An Arnprior physician has seen his dedication to community recognized by an award presented to him by the Ontario Medical Association (OMA).
Fitzsimon trained as a doctor in his native Britain, volunteered as a physician in Bolivia where he met his future Canadian spouse, and following his time in the employ of the NHS, the pair came to Canada to live.
The local doctor would agree the OMA chose to recognize him for his role in helping set up the Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre- in reality, he’s just a small part of a team.
Dr. Fitzsimon believes the VTAC model in its present form will be needed well into the future.
With the imminent retirement of many practising doctors, there’s an increasing number of orphan patients and people that remain without the services of their own family physician.
