A White Lake couple have given up their voluntarily job maintaining the community’s beach.
In an email to McNab-Braeside Council, Sandy and Norm McLellan says locals appreciated their efforts, and pitched in where they could.
Then, along came COVID, and, according to Mayor Tom Peckett, the pair decided they’d had enough.
Visitors were observed driving vehicles right onto the beach and using the shoreline as their personal dog park.
Norm McLellan even struck up casual conversations with many offenders, and the “So where are you from”, most often came back, “Ottawa.”
The couple’s May 21st missive was in fact, their resignation from voluntary efforts at White Lake Beach, prompted by the uncaring out-of-towners.
