The Renfrew OPP has laid charges after an incident involving a firearm on a local highway.
Officers responded to a call on April 17th, 2021, involving a weapon on Highway 28 in Addington Highlands Township.
Police say around 3:00pm two vehicles were travelling on Highway 28 when an incident occurred involving a firearm.
The OPP says no one was injured and the suspect vehicle continued to travel northbound on Highway 41. Officers observed the vehicle at 3:25 p.m and conducted a traffic stop where three individuals were arrested.
As a result of an investigation:
Joseph PARISI, 61 years old of Mississauga was charged with:
• Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
• Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on May 26, 2021.
Romario BOODROM, 26 years old of Toronto was charged with:
• Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams
• Operation while prohibited
• Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
• Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on May 26, 2021.
26 years old Weaz RAMJITSINGH of Barrie was charged with:
• Careless use of firearm
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
• Unauthorized possession of firearm
• Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
• Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order – x 2
• Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition –
• Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm –
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice today for a bail hearing via video link.
