The search for a snowmobiler who went missing near Pembroke has been suspended for the day as police look at next steps. The 30-year-old was last seen on Friday and his snowmobile was recovered from the Ottawa River on Sunday afternoon.
The search is focused in the Isle-aux-Allumettes area in Quebec (near Pembroke) and around Chapeau. Police helicopters and dive teams were also called into help.
Sûreté du Québec communications officer Marc Tessier says the snowmobiler was last seen wearing an orange and black snowmobile coat (which also serves as a flotation system) with an orange and black helmet. He’s asking residents to pay close attention along the Ottawa River.
