Two years in the making, a County infrastructure project was an early Christmas present to Arnprior- the refurbishment of the Madawaska Bridge.
Now, the Town has an ask in a similar price range: the realignment of Edey and Galvin Streets at the Daniel Street intersection.
Mayor Walter Stack say the file is in the hands of Arnprior’s County Councillor, Dan Lynch.
The Mayor says the developer of the fairgrounds subdivision has paid 50 thousand dollars in development fees, and is willing to cough up an additional 90 thousand.
Stack expects some additional wiggle room to boost the contribution is that the rapid and unforeseen rise of housing prices in the community over the last eighteen months.
The Mayor says traffic congestion is not the fault of the fairgrounds subdivision, but rather uptown settlement patterns as a whole over the last fifteen years.
Stack says Renfrew County has benefitted from the increased assessment over the decade and a half time frame- so it’s not like they don’t have skin in the game.
The County of Renfrew’s Operations Committee meets February 9th.
