A major drug bust in Greater Madawaska has landed several from the Ottawa Valley behind bars. Four people face more than 50 charges after the OPP executed a search warrant on Sunday, at a home on Barrett Chute Road. Officers seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, purple Fentanyl, crystal meth, speed, a replica firearm, Canadian cash and items typically associated with drug trafficking. Stolen property from the Ottawa home invasion was also recovered. 22-year-old Taylor Bahm of Renfrew, 30-year-old Sean Kinghorn of North Dundas, 30 year-old Cody Nice from Petawawa and 27-year-old Carley Winters of Gatineau are all facing the following charges:
Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2) – four counts
Possession of property obtained by crime – Criminal Code (CC) sec. 354(1)(a)
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime – CC sec. 354(1)(a)
Possession of a firearm contrary to Prohibition Order – CC sec. 117.01(1)
Fail to comply with a Probation Order – CC sec. 733.1(1) – six counts
WINTERS is also charged under the Criminal Code with:
Robbery with violence – CC sec. 344(1)(b)
Break and Enter to a place to commit an indictable offence CC sec. 348(1)(b)
Failure to comply with a release order – CC sec. 145(5)(a) – 3 counts
KINGHORN faces seven additional charges of Possession of a firearm contrary to a Prohibition Order, CC sec 117.01(1).
BAHM faces one additional Possession of a firearm contrary to a Prohibition Order 117.01(1)
NICE is also with charged with four counts of Failure to comply with a release order – CC sec. 145(5)(a).
The accused were all remanded into custody until bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on various dates.
