The unattended crosswalk at Daniel and Edey Streets in Arnprior is an accident waiting to happen.
Mayor Walter Stack says he’s scoped out the problem and says parents have their valid concerns.
The Mayor says the situation will only worsen with the addition of the new subdivision under construction at the former fairgrounds.
He says that’s why Council has approved a re-alignment of the corner, so that Galvin and Edey Streets squarely intersect with Daniel.
Because Daniel Street is a County Road, it would be logical for the County of Renfrew to contribute to a solution to the problem.
In the meantime Renfrew OPP Detachment Commander Dawn Ferguson has pledged an increased police presence to calm the traffic flow.
