A local company is celebrating a milestone and an achievement connected with space exploration. Bubble Technology Industries has been working with members of the International Space Station in regards to neutron radiation. Astronauts just wrapped up 11 years of measuring this radiation using bubble detectors. Manager of Research and Development, Dr. Martin Smith says there’s important significance to these measurements.
Smith says these bubble detectors have been crucial to this particular research.
Smith also says bubble detectors are helping to make space exploration safer for astronauts.
He adds this research could help them put together a clearer picture of any health implications of neutron radiation exposure, including cataracts, and bone marrow damage. Bubble Technology Industries is located in Chalk River.
