Radon- you don’t have to live near a uranium mine to fall victim to it, and the dangers are something you shouldn’t slough off.
Pam Warkentin heads the organization, TakeActionOnRadon, and she wasn’t surprised by the number of residences in Greater Madawaska that tested positive for radon during a 2019 study in the Township.
Forty-one percent of Greater Madawaska residents who took part in the 100 Radon Test Kit Challenge, learned their homes were above Health Canada’s safe radon level.
A further 36 percent of homeowners learned their houses had radon gas levels close to exceeding the recommended safe zone.
For those who were involved in the 2019 study in Greater Madawaska- or if you just want to know more about how to mitigate the dangers, you can take part in a webinar coming up November 19th.
