Ontario’s Rural Economic Development Program has a special initiative to assist local economic diversification.
Nearly 1 million dollars has been earmarked for Renfrew County.
Details of the funding were released by Ernie Hardeman, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs at an event in Leamington on Friday (September 18th).
The intake is directed at not-for-profit organizations with a mandate towards regional economic development.
Eligible projects would qualify for up to 70 per cent of total costs to a maximum of $75,000 in provincial funding.
Renfrew County gets $19,500 for the rehabilitation of cultural, heritage and tourism attractions such as the K&P Recreational Trails.
The Township of Bonnechere Valley receives $10,000 for business retention and expansion.
The Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation will receive $96,600 to help strengthen financial stability and entrepreneurship/business succession in Renfrew County.
The Ottawa Valley Tourist Association will receive $19,000 for tourism sector and value chain development.
If you have an initiative you believe would qualify, you can apply until October 9th.
Your proposal must have reach beyond the region, be a benefit rural Ontario and yield tangible outcomes.
All costs must be incurred on or before March 31st, 2021. Projects will not be extended beyond that date.
The next regular intake of the RED program is scheduled to open in December 2020
