There’s a small forest fire currently burning in in Whitewater Region.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) first reported the blaze just after 6:30pm last night (July 9th). The fire is currently 0.2 hectares in size and listed as under control. The fire is located on Sullivan Island and the Whitewater Region Fire Department says lightning is to blame. Local firefighters are working with the assistance of the MNRF.
The MNRF is aware of one other active fire in Renfrew County. The 0.5 hectare blaze in Laurentian Hills was first reported on Wednesday night (July 8th). That fire is also listed as under control.
Currently working another lightning strike on Sullivan Island with the assistance of MNRF.
