An unexpected expense in a year of surprises.
Mayor Walter Stack tells Oldies 107.7 that the water-main running from Russell Street in Arnprior under the Madawaska River to Jack Crescent is being replaced at a cost exceeding 700 thousand dollars.
Stack says when the team of divers the Town hired to make an assessment on whether an interim repair could get us through, the answer was no.
The Mayor says the Town spent 200 thousand dollars on what turns out to have been a temporary repair just a couple of years ago.
Walter Stack says the repair must be finished by the end of August, as that is when a main connected to the Madawsaka Bridge goes down for repair and the Town cannot have two of the three watermains in the vicinity down at the same time.
A bylaw authorizing the emergency water-main repair was approved at Arnprior Town Council’s virtual session on Monday (June 15th).
