Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MP Cheryl Gallant has put her nose to the grindstone to break up a bureaucratic log-jam in one of the new Federal assistance packages for small business.
Gallant is the Tory critic for Northern and Rural Economic Development.
She says when the Trudeau government first rolled out the Canada Emergency Bank Account (CEBA) loan program, it was supposed to be administered solely by the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).
The MP says another error was not allowing Credit Unions to have a hand in helping to administer the CEBA loans.
On that matter she wrote to all of the other MPs in the House of Commons.
The two oversights have since been rectified by the Federal Government- and the assistance has even been extended to sole-proprietorships, but one hurdle still remains.
The applicant has to have a registered business bank account.
Gallant’s Office is located at 84 Isabella Street in Pembroke, and her Constituency phone number is 613-732-4404.
