It’s one of many stories of businesses in the Ottawa Valley coming together to help out during the COVID-19 pandemic. The owner of Country Cupboard in Petawawa, Cheryl Jordan, says they have started sewing buttons onto headbands for local health care workers.
Jordan says they’ve donated almost 400 headbands to the hospitals and long-term care homes across Renfrew County. She adds the Pembroke Regional Hospital, Deep River and District Hospital, Renfrew Victoria Hospital, St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry’s Bay, Miramichi Lodge, Marianhill, Supples Landing and some even shipped to Ottawa.
The Country Cupboard owner says they are closed to walk-in traffic, but still have an online website with delivery available throughout the Ottawa Valley and porch pick-up outside the store.
Jordan says a volunteer group called the Cupboard Helpers has been created and they have a Facebook group for anyone interested in helping out.
