The annual Polar Plunge at the White Lake Winter Carnival took place on a sunny, 4 degree day and there were four Renfrew County Paramedics on hand to offer assistance to those who were getting in and out of the frigid water.
McNab-Braeside Recreation Director Geoff Patterson says, strangely, The Polar Plunge is an event that draws repeat performers.
He says some even do an informal circuit, taking part on polar challenges elsewhere in the Valley and other nearby communities.
Patterson says there is no minimum time that those taking part had to remain in the waters of White Lake.
There were 11 participants and a much larger crowd cheering them on.
The top fundraiser was Scott Birnie who raised $1500 for Special Olympics.
