The pros and cons of putting a Rogers cell phone tower on the Renfrew Fairgrounds were discussed at Town Council last night, but councillors put off their discussion until a company rep from the provider can attend.
Resident Kyle Leech shared results of a study he’d done on the perceived health dangers of radio frequency radiation that can be emitted from the cell towers, despite assurances given by Canada’s Safety Code Six.
It’s a long list, and Kyle’s four year old daughter attends the Catholic School next to the Fairgrounds.
General Manager of the Renfrew Agricultural Society Judy Dolbec says the 40 metre Rogers cell tower would bring in revenue for the Fairgrounds.
Reeve Peter Emon suggested Town Council wait to make a decision until Rogers representatives could answer some of their concerns at a subsequent meeting.
Rogers had earlier indicated someone could come from Toronto, but couldn’t be available until the next Council Meeting, November 12th.
