For the new owner of the Pembroke Lumber Kings Alex Armstrong, it’s a junior hockey career come full circle. Armstrong, himself once a junior hockey player who has spent a number of years in the league as a coach and in player development, recently purchased the Kings franchise from Dale McTavish. Armstrong will also serve as Head Coach and General Manager. The new owner tells myFM News that he’s proud of the team’s legacy.
Armstrong spent much of last season as the Head Coach of the Smiths Falls Bears. He’s already brought in some of his players from last year, strictly because he knows what they bring to the table. Former Assistant Coach Keith Roach will be back behind the bench for the upcoming year, while Armstrong seeks to add one more assistant coach. He says he’s looking forward to training camp next month.
