Centennial Park in Petawawa appears to be a write-off for this year. Unfortunately, due to the flooding in the spring, the park saw extensive damage and at this point it’s still not clear how bad the damage actually is, especially at the retaining wall. However, Petawawa town Councillor Tom Mohns says some progress is being made in regards to the future of the park.
Mohns expects some repair work to take place this fall. The parks and recreation department will likely be putting together a formal report for council to consider with recommendations on how to improve the park. To that note, Mohns says to do a complete overhaul would take a few years and the project would be completed in phases.
