Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) confirms pending layoffs at its nuclear facility in Chalk River.
President Mark Lesinki confirms news shared with myFM earlier today.
He says about 7 percent of the CNL workforce will be affected.
Lesninski says 90 fulltime workers will lose their jobs, 60 term employees will also lose their positions and 50 vacant positions will no longer be filled.
The layoffs will be effective in 18 weeks time.
The CNL President says safety will not be compromised by the decision.
Lesinski anticipates growth in the Sciene and Technolony Division will continue despite today’s announced retrenchment.
