The Ottawa Senators Foundation has chosen Arnprior as a spot to expand its brand. The foundation has committed to building 20 Sens Rinks in municipalites this year and Arnprior made the list. The outdoor rink will provide a place for both kids and adults to use all year around for hockey, skating, ball hockey, basketball, and lacrosse, in addition to community activities. Town council has four possible locations for the rink to be built and according to town Planner Robin Paquette, staff will be looking to see which site is the best fit.

The proposed rink would be a 200' x 85' outdoor rink equipped with permanent boards and overhead lighting. There will be a concrete pad under the ice to allow for the surface to be used for other sports and basketball nets could be installed for summer use. Locations currently being considered include Meehan Street, opposite the County Ambulance Building, Legion Park, McLean Diamonds and the Nick Smith Centre.
