6/16/2017 4:44:57 PM

The countdown is on until Sarah Hall takes the plunge. Hall is an Algonquin College professor who is taking on a long distance swim to raise money for the Muskrat Watershed Council, but most importantly, raise awareness of the health of Muskrat Lake.   She will begin a 16-kilometre swim between 7 and 8am tomorrow (Saturday) at the bottom of Meath Hill and finish at the Cobden beach/boat launch area. A BBQ and a silent auction will be held at the Cobden beach after the swim as well.   Hall and her students have worked closely with the MWC on water testing and installation of controlled tile drainage in the Muskrat Lake watershed. Proceeds from the swim go directly to the Muskrat Watershed Council, a volunteer, community-based, not-for-profit organization whose goal is to improve water quality in the lake which has been plagued by blue green algae in recent years.
