It all begins at the Beachburg Fairgrounds this evening (Friday June 16th) at 7PM. It's the Whitewater Relay For Life. This is the fourth edition locally, while nationally Relay for Life enters its 18th year. Teams of participants will take shifts walking, running or strolling the course during the 12-hour overnight circuit to raise funds in the fight against cancer. Honourary survivor for 2017 is Cobden businessman Ted Barron. A survivors' lap and luminary ceremony coincide with the actual relay, with those events going at 10PM. This year, participants are asked to dress up as their favourite silver screen character as the theme is Whitewater goes to the Movies. Last year's event saw 200 people taking part and raised more than $64 000.
