There are algae problems once again on Muskrat Lake. Samples were taken last week that confirm blue-green algae is present on the lake. The sample was taken from the boat launch in Cobden.

A very invasive plant species has been spotted in Lanark County. Japanese Knotweed is a plant that can degrade wetland quality and habitats and overtake other plants.

JUNE HOME SALES HIT EIGHT YEAR HIGH

Home sales in Renfrew County for the month of June are at an eight year high. There were 187 houses sold over the 30 days, which is up 7.5 per cent from last June. The value of these sales has gone up to $44.6 million, up nearly 13 per cent from June of 2016.

Renfrew and Arnprior's hospitals are each getting a share of new funding for hospital upgrades in Eastern Ontario. Arnprior Regional Health will receive 2.3 million for 2017-2018, while Renfrew Victoria Hospital will receive 2.4 million dollars.
